Mrs. Jennifer Witschy has been teaching in Newington for three years. Presently, Mrs. Witschy teaches fifth grade at John Wallace Middle School. Mrs. Witschy graduated with her Bachelor's in Elementary Education and Mathematics from Central Connecticut State University 2004. Currently, Mrs. Witschy is pursuing her Masters Degree in Educational Technology from CCSU. She is very excited to be able to use the exciting technology she learns about in her classroom.
Mrs. Witschy grew up in Marlborough, CT and loved spending her childhood days outside making forts in the woods and riding her bike with her two younger siblings, Kim and Will. When Mrs. Witschy wasn't outside, she was often found curled up with a Nancy Drew mystery. Reading is still one of her favorite things to do! In the middle of her high school years, Mrs. Witschy's family moved to Manchester. She started a new school on her sweet 16th birthday, and learned the importance of being able to adapt to new situations. If Mrs. Witschy had to pick one favorite memory from her childhood it would be when she spent time with her entire family out on the back porch of her grandparents' house in Misquamicut enjoying "nibbles."
In Mrs. Witschy's senior year at Central, she gathered up the courage to ask a cute boy she knew from Residence Life to the Senior Ball. It was a good thing he said yes, because on July 29, 2005 Mr. and Mrs. Witschy were married in Misquamicut, RI. They celebrated their reception in Narragansett at The Towers, which over looks the ocean. The day was truly magical! After spending the next day on the beach with family and friends, Mr. and Mrs. Witschy honeymooned in San Francisco, just like Mrs. Witschy's Mom and Dad did when they went on their honeymoon! According to Mrs. Witschy, Alcatraz Island was totally AMAZING!
Mrs. Witschy absolutely LOVES to teach! She hopes to help the future generations learn the importance of being able to advocate for their learning. Mrs. Witschy wants to be a dynamic teacher just like her Aunt Sue was. Mrs. Witschy hopes that her past, present and future students remember one thing, above all else about her - that she truly cares deeply about every one of them, and believes they have the ability to make the world a better place by making others feel important and included.
