"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."
-Anne Frank
We have decided to do our part in making this world a better place by purchasing a goat for a family in Haiti. The students will do their part to earn money by collecting cans and bottles or doing extra chores for an allowance. Each student has a goal of earning $10.00 to contribute toward our goat. The goat will be purchased from the Haitian Health Foundation for $150.00. The Haitian Health Foundation serves the poor of the area of Jérémie, Haiti. Any extra money we raise will be donated to the building of an orphanage for the children of Haiti. The orphanage is being built in Dandann and Duverger, Haiti, as part of "Mission Haiti," which is lead by Sean Forrest.
Mrs. Witschy's mom, Denise Bartlett, has been to Haiti as part of a Mission Trip, and has seen first hand how desperate our fellow people are for our help. She will be coming to spend part of a day with us to teach us about Haiti and help us to understand the daily struggle many Haitians face. Mrs. Bartlett has held the orphans and served the truly needy in this poorest country in our Western Hemisphere.

Movin' With The Spirit
Sean Forrest is building an orphanage after having traveled to Haiti. He and Mrs. Bartlett were on the same Mission Trip in 2002. They spent time in an orphanage in Jérémie, and since that time Sean has carried that experience in his heart. Check out his site for how he uses his musical talents to raise money and awareness.
Mud Cookies Video
We learned that mud cakes are fun to play with outside on a nice sunny day. The people of Haiti have been making mud cookies to actually fill their bellies. The cookies are made from mud, butter and salt, and sold for $0.06. Can you even imagine it?
